Multi-Platinum and GRAMMY Award winning artist Casting Crowns is once again tapped as a “Favorite Artist” nominee for the “2007 American Music Awards” in the Contemporary Inspirational Artist category, as announced today during a press conference at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Winners will be announced at the 2007 AMA ceremony, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and broadcast live on ABC, Sunday, Nov. 18(8:00-11:00 pm ET/PT) from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. This is the band’s third consecutive nomination for an AMA.
For the first time in American Music Awards history, and the only music awards show to do so, winners will be determined by fan online voting at ama.abc.com.Voting opens on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 11 am ET and closes Nov. 2 at 3 am ET.

During its four-year career, Casting Crowns has been honored with a GRAMMY Award, three American Music Award nods and multiple Gospel Music Dove Awards serving as the industry’s “Group of the Year” for the last three years. Casting Crowns has been the most played artist on all Christian radio formats combined, with seven consecutive No.1 AC radio hits, and the group has sold nearly 3 million albums to date. Earlier this year, Casting Crowns set an RIAA record as the fastest Christian music artist in its career to have its first two albums certified Platinum, and only the second in RIAA history ever to achieve it (the other being Jars of Clay in 2000).
