|KIDS IN THE WAY WAX PHILOSOPHICAL ON APPARITIONS OF MELODY MAY 10
05 May 2005
Flicker Records hard music band Kids in the Way pairs its screaming sound with equally intense lyrical themes on Apparitions of Melody, in stores May 10. The group’s new music is quickly finding an online audience, ranking among the most played artists on MySpace.com
Produced by Nathan Dantzler (Tree63, Staple, subseven) and Sam Shifley (Mortal Treason, Staple, subseven), Apparitions of Melody delivers the band’s edgy, high-energy sound while addressing relevant themes ranging from transience and metaphysical warfare to social injustice. Songs like album opener “Last Day of 1888” empathizes with those who have been falsely accused, as was the man nearly arrested for Jack the Ripper’s slayings. “Apparitions of Melody” addresses life’s impermanence and the desire to make a lasting impression. Tracks including “Burt Rutan” and “This Could Be the Song That Will Change Your Heart” beg listeners to surrender their lives to a higher power.
As Kids in the Way frontman David Paul Pelsue comments, “The album is a lot deeper. In many ways, it’s similar to what we’ve written before, but the lyrical content and musicianship are much stronger. We tapped into something more intense this time around.”
Preceding Apparitions of Melody to retail outlets, the project’s title track is currently spinning on Christian Rock radio stations nationwide. The band has also created a video for “Apparitions of Melody.” Shot entirely against a green screen, this performance video is a unique blend of photographs and computer generated graphics. Additional details are forthcoming.
Kids in the Way is quickly gaining favor on the Web, as previews of its upcoming album are already available at purevolume.com and MySpace.com, among other outlets. MySpace.com recently ranked Kids in the Way among the Top 10 most played bands in multiple music genres, namely rock, screamo, and punk.
