Popular singing group Avalon was recognized earlier this month by World Vision for its work in finding financial sponsors for more than 18,000 needy children worldwide. The vocal quartet is a longtime ministry partner with the humanitarian organization.
At a special World Vision event held in Nashville, Tennessee, Avalon was joined on stage by musical legend Russ Taff to sing "We Will Stand," featured on the group's current release, STAND.
"We're grateful to be at a place in life where God is allowing us to be part of something bigger, to see a bigger picture," said Avalon founding member Janna Long of the work with World Vision.
Avalon's Jody McBrayer added, "For me, child sponsorship is truly an amazing thing. Not only does it change the life of a child forever, but it also teaches us to appreciate every bit of what God has blessed us with."
With more than three million albums sold to date, Avalon is one of today's most established Christian music acts. The group is performing at Women of Faith events throughout 2006 in addition to its stand alone concert dates.
