Justin

Hi, Iím Justin and this is My World.

Music has always been a passion of mine. I grew up singing in choir and playing in bands. It became more serious in college when I transferred universities and began to study music full time. About a year after transferring schools I was selected as a member of the traveling worship band for the university. It was a dream come true for me.

Four months before we were to go on tour, I had a major knee injury that resulted in me not being able to walk for over 2 months. At this point there was talk about me not being able to go on tour at all. This was devastating. As a group we put our trust in God and pressed on in faith, believing that I would be healed in time to go on tour. We kept going, recording, practicing, and praying as a team. Miraculously, my surgery was earlier than the doctorís had anticipated and I finished my last day of therapy the day before we left for the tour.

As we approached the halfway point of the tour, we stopped in a city for a week to play several different concerts. While we were there I started to notice a small lump on my body. It kept getting worse. I finally ended up going to the emergency room. I had to have an ultrasound and some other tests done. It was bad. I had to fly home the next day to meet with another doctor. After meeting with him he told me that I had cancer and I needed to have surgery immediately.

After the surgery, the doctor thought that the cancer had spread further into my body and that another major surgery would be necessary. It felt like there was no end in sight. It was difficult to see past this situation, but with the help of some of my band members and family, I put my trust in God, and believed that He would take care of me. I stepped out in faith and told the doctor that I wanted to do another test to see if the cancer was still in there.

The doctor was very doubtful and said that it would be pointless because the cancer would still be there, but he set up one last scan for me. When the results came back, it was clear. There was no trace of cancer! That was 2 and a half years ago, and I have been stable, going in for tests every 3 months. God is faithful.

Itís hard for us to really believe in the healing power of God, and maybe even that God is real sometimes, but in the midst of everything, He was faithful and carried me. Even when I didnít completely trust, He put people in my life to encourage me and showing me that He was in control.

At 23 I was diagnosed with cancer, I was a senior in college, ready to take on life. But I wasnít completely ready to trust God. Now, He taught me to never doubt Him or His power. I thank God everyday for his blessings in my lifeÖand I can never forget what He did for me, not just through that situation, but through my whole life.
